Frequently asked

What is New Game Plus?

A health tracker wrapped in a role-playing game. You get seven daily quests — water, steps, calories, protein, a weigh-in, sleep and screen time — and hitting them earns gold and energy. You spend those on a rune-matching battle campaign, winning gear that you upgrade at the forge to get further.

Is it free?

Yes, through level 5 — no account, no card, no time limit. The water, calorie and protein quests, manual food logging, streaks and the full first-run tour are all free. New Game Plus Pro unlocks the rest.

What does Pro unlock?
  • Every level past 5 — the full 108-level campaign
  • Photo, barcode, voice and USDA-search food logging
  • GPS gym check-in, with free battle attempts and gear chests
  • Automatic sleep, screen-time and step quests
  • The hero forge — equipping and upgrading gear

While you're on the free tier, the locked daily quests quietly keep score. When you subscribe, the gold they stacked up is paid out at once.

How much is Pro, and is there a trial?

US $4.99 a month or US $29.99 a year; your local price is shown in the store's purchase sheet before you confirm anything. New subscribers get a 7-day free trial where it's offered. It renews automatically until you cancel — the full terms are in the Terms of Use.

How do I cancel?

Subscriptions are managed by the store you bought from, not by us — we can't cancel one for you.

iPhone: Settings → tap your name at the top → Subscriptions → New Game Plus → Cancel Subscription.

Android: Google Play Store → tap your profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → New Game Plus → Cancel.

Cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends to avoid the next charge. You keep Pro until the period you already paid for runs out. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.

I want a refund

Refunds are handled by the store, under its own policy. For the App Store, go to reportaproblem.apple.com. For Google Play, use your order history in the Play Store. If something in the app went wrong, email us too — it helps us fix it.

I subscribed but the app still shows the paywall

Open the paywall and tap Restore Purchases — that re-checks your store account and re-applies the subscription. Make sure you're signed in to the same Apple Account or Google account you bought with, and that you have a network connection, since the receipt is verified on our server. If it still won't unlock, email us and mention roughly when you purchased.

Will my save move to a new phone?

No — and this is worth knowing before you switch. Your account is anonymous and tied to the install on that device, so there is no login that would carry a save across. A new phone, or deleting and reinstalling the app, starts a new save.

We built it this way so the app never has to ask for your email or a password. The trade-off is that we genuinely cannot recover a save for you — there is nothing linking it to you that we could look up.

Why does it want my location?

Only for the gym check-in. When you check in, your coordinates are sent to OpenStreetMap to confirm there's actually a gym there, and the app watches for you walking away so it can check you out and hand you your chest. Access is while-using-the-app only, we never store your location on our servers, and the rest of the game works fine if you say no.

Why does it want the camera and microphone?

Camera for scanning meals, barcodes and your water bottle; the photo library for analysing a meal photo you already took; the microphone for describing a meal out loud instead of typing it. Each is asked for only when you first use that lane, and manual logging never needs any of them. Photos and audio clips are processed for nutrition estimates and then discarded — see the Privacy Policy.

Do the sleep and screen-time quests work on Android?

No. Both are built on Apple's Screen Time frameworks and are iPhone only. The other five daily quests — water, steps, calories, protein and the weigh-in — work on both platforms.

How does the screen-time quest see my usage?

It doesn't, really. You pick which apps count and set a budget; iOS then tells the app only that a threshold was crossed. Your actual minute counts never reach the app's code and never reach our servers — the real numbers are drawn inside a sandboxed Apple extension that can't send anything anywhere. The sleep quest infers a phone-free night from the same threshold signals.

My steps look wrong

Steps come from your phone's own motion sensor, so they only count while the phone is on you — no watch integration, and no Apple Health or Health Connect. If the count looks low, check that motion access is granted in your system settings. You can also add steps manually while you sort it out.

How do I delete my data?

In the app: Settings → Account → Delete account. That wipes your account and everything synced with it from our servers immediately. Deleting the app clears the local copy. Full instructions, including how to ask without the app installed, are on the account deletion page.

Is any of this medical advice?

No. New Game Plus is a game, not a medical device, and its targets are general estimates computed from the profile you enter. Talk to a qualified health professional before changing your diet, exercise or sleep — especially if you have a medical condition, are pregnant, or have a history of disordered eating.

Where does the nutrition data come from?

Barcodes resolve against Open Food Facts; text search and the grounding behind photo estimates come from USDA FoodData Central. Photo and voice estimates are produced by Google's Gemini and then checked against USDA entries where possible. Estimates are estimates — you can edit any number before it's logged.
